Hello, California!

I'm home for Christmas! One of the first things we did after my (somewhat harrowing) flight from JFK to San José was go hiking in the foothills. One of our favorite places is Fremont Older Open Space Preserve, named for a San Francisco newspaperman and editor who was born in 1856 and died in 1935. Though it is December, it was warm and sunny enough to go without a jacket, and the sky was vast and bright blue. Some things Manhattan definitely makes me hungry for is huge sky, enormous open spaces, and sweet air. And I can't get over how much brighter the sun seems here!

California, I've missed you.

  1. I love that trail, too. Margaret and I used to hike it a lot.
